Collecting & Designing Beautiful Memories

Easy Winter Craft Activity

Our part of the country has been known to have a late snowfall during the month of March.  As winter draws to a close, I thought I would share one last craft activity that can be pulled together in a matter of minutes.  Olivia’s cousins, ages 4-9, stayed with us over The Holidays and we made paper snowflake ballerinas.

To make these beauties, we followed the basic tutorial on Krokotak.com.

A couple of notes on our process:

  1. I created a ballerina template using a manila file folder so that tracing would be a breeze!  The girls just had to position this shape against a folded edge of a piece of construction paper.
  2. I gathered a variety of different papers/materials to make the paper ballerina skirts.  The girls experimented with construction paper, tissue paper, and even cellophane to create their festive skirt layers.  I would suggest cutting out each material into a square shape so it is ready to go before the craft begins.
  3. Embellish, embellish, embellish!  The girls used glitter glue pens to decorate their masterpieces. Rainbow loom rubber bands even served as colorful necklaces!

So impressed with their creativity!
